Why we’re getting behind Moe Sbihi and London 2012.
We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local rower, Moe Sbihi, as he attempts to qualify for a place at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.
Moe trains locally at the Molesey Boat Club. Kingston-upon-Thames-born Moe, at just 23, has already won silver, in the Men’s 8+, at the 2011 World Rowing Championships, silver in the 2011 Munich World Cup and bronze in the 2011 Lucerne World Cup.
“I’m really grateful to Cooper Thames Ditton and BMW for their support,” said Moe. “It’s tough trying to qualify for a place at the Olympic Games and it’s a big help knowing that they are behind me, helping to raise funds and awareness. It’s also fantastic having a brand new 3 Series Coupé from now until the end of the 2012 Games. There’s a lot of travelling to heats, competitions and promotional events so it’s great being able to arrive there in style.”
Richard Allen, Dealer Principal at Cooper Thames Ditton, said: “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get really involved with the 2012 Games. Our staff and customers are keen to support London 2012 so we’re really happy to be backing Moe - especially since our dealership is right next to the Thames.”
